Vauxhall Insignia gets the VXR treatment


VAUXHALL have given their new Insignia model the VXR treatment.

The performance badged Vectra replacement gets a scorching turbo charged V6 powerplant producing a thumping 325 bhp, four wheel drive, and a zero-60mph time of 5.6 seconds.

It won't be appearing in UK showrooms until September though, and priced at an eye watering £30,995.00, there may not be a massive queue in the current climate.

It'll come in hatch, saloon and sports tourer body styles, each with a bespoke chassis developed through extensive testing at the gruelling Nürburgring circuit in Germany.

All models run on 19 inch alloys as standard, although there are 20 inch monsters for those who want to dip into the extras list.

Cross drilled 350mm Brembo brakes provide the stopping power, lurking alongside colour-keyed callipers.

Inside there's the usual Recaro front seats, a new VXR steering wheel, VXR gearknob and unique mouldings are standard on all cars, along with different instrument graphics, VXR sill plates and a black headlining.

The 325bhp output gets the car's engine will get it to 155mph (limited), and muster 435Nm of torque at 5,250rpm. 50-75mph in fifth gear is despatched in a quick 7.1 seconds. All VXRs are available with a colour palette comprising Arden Blue, Power Red, Carbon Flash Black, Silver Lake, Olympic White and Technical Grey.
