IN March this year, the Macclesfield RSPCA appealed to the public to give homes to some of the nine elderly cats left behind by a Macclesfield woman who had died.
The branch is pleased to report that all of the cats, apart from Snowy, have been rehomed, and it would like to thank all those who gave these pensioners loving homes.
Snowy (pictured) is a pure white female cat aged around 10. When she came into the branch's care in March she was very timid and frightened.
She has been through a terrible ordeal. She lived with the elderly woman for about 10 years, so being picked up, taken to the vet and then on to a new home was quite a lot for Snowy to deal with.
All the cats had ear infections and terrible teeth problems. They suffered for years without getting any veterinary treatment. Snowy also has what is known as a cauliflower ear - one is wrinkled - but there is nothing wrong with her ears.
She is now a really playful cat and loves attention and a good fuss. RSPCA workers and volunteers thought at first that she was frightened of men, but the longer she has been in their care, the more she is opening up to men, so given time she should be fine.
Being a shy cat, reluctant to go to strangers, Snowy has been hard to re-home, but if someone will give her a chance in a new home she will come around and be a very loving cat for some lucky person.
To give Snowy a home, call 01625 669620 or email cats@rspca-macclesfield.org.uk.
The branch has had to deal with a large number of road traffic accidents in the last few weeks and would appeal to the public to contact the RSPCA, Cats Protection or vets in the area if your cat has gone missing. Also, look on the RSPCA website to see if your cat is there.
