MOTORISTS in Trafford don't have to worry about getting a parking fine in the post.
Although new rules allow councils to send penalty notices by mail, Trafford says it will not be adopting this practice - for the time being.
But the borough has implemented national changes that will see a two tier charging system, with more serious offences receiving higher fines and lesser offences receiving lower fines.
At the top of the scale, a person will be fined £70 (reduced to £35 if paid within 14 days) for an offence such as parking in a disabled bay, while actions such as exceeding the time limit in a pay and display car park will receive a £50 fine (reduced to £25 if paid within 14 days).
These charges replace the old standard £60 fine (reduced to £30 if paid within 14 days).
