New bar has real spirit

A FORMER morgue in Altrincham has taken on a new lease of life - it has been transformed into a bar.
The cafe/bar is called Mort Subite' - which means sudden death in French.
The unusual name was chosen because the basement on Greeenwood Street it is located in was formerly the morgue at Altrincham General Hospital.
Mort Subite, Place de la Biere.is the latest venture of the Fat Loaf Bistro, which is directly above the bar, in premises that used to be the pathology laboratory.
Joint partner Paul Taylor said the bar will showcase more than 250 different styles of beer from around Europe.
He added: "We are delighted to launch Mort Subite'. The choice of beers that we offer must surely be one of the best in Europe. We have gone to great lengths to secure a fantastic range of beers, including the superb beer maker, Mort Subite' of course.
"Mort Subite offers a real haven for the beer connoisseur. The vast arrays of beers from around Europe are sure to stimulate and thrill the palate."
*FAT Loaf Bistro chefs Paul Taylor and Matt Shaw recently completed the Rotterdam marathon, raising hundreds of pounds for St Ann's Hospice.
Paul, who is also the co-owner, said: We both know several people who have previously run the London marathon, however nobody who has run the Rotterdam marathon. My wife is from Holland and really she talked me into it.
"For the past few months Matt and I have balanced a rigid training programme with creating culinary delights in the kitchen. Many of our customers have sponsored us and we are both really grateful. The run was quite a challenge but we made it and raised lots of money for a great cause."
