A FEMALE teaching assistant failed to give an accurate breath test after being stopped in her car by police.
Deborah Taylor, 26, of Brough Street West, was given a two-year driving ban and ordered to pay £255 in fines and costs by Macclesfield magistrates on Wednesday (April 30).
Prosecutor Debbie Byrne told the court Taylor was spotted by police on Crompton Road at 7.20pm on the evening of April 11 in her Renault Mégane. She had no seatbelt on and was exceeding the speed limit.

She was stopped on Chestergate and smelt of intoxicants, had glazed eyes and was slurring her speech. She was arrested but later failed to provide two specimens of breath.
Her lawyer, Caroline King, said: "This is a well-educated young lady who has never before been before the courts. She is very stressed about this situation and is worried about the consequences. She felt she tried to give a specimen but at the time her throat was dry and she was extremely panicky. She was unaware of the procedure and didn't know why her attempts weren't yielding the desired result.
"We won't ever know if she was over the limit or not, but she is extremely remorseful."
