THE Conservative Party have completed a cleansweep in Wilmslow in the local elections for the new Cheshire East Council.
The party have claimed all nine of the seats up for grabs in Wilmslow North, Wilmslow South and Alderley, dominating voting patterns in the process.
Cabinet members Frank Keegan and Liz Gilliland along with longstanding Cllr, Carolyn Andrew, grabbed a massive 76 per cent majority of the votes in Alderley.
In Wilmslow North, ex Macclesfield Mayor, Jim Crockatt, alongside Don Stockton and Paul Whiteley were all elected, grabbing an overall 59 per cent of votes between them.
In Wilmslow South, Macclesfield Borough Council leader, Wesley Fitzgerald, was elected alongside Rod Menlove and Gary Philip Barton. The three men grabbed 66 per cent of the overall number of votes.
Cllr Fitzgerald said: "This is obviously an excellent result. It is a snapshot of what has been a clear nationwide swing away from the Labour Party towards the Conservatives.
On the Tories' victory in Wilmslow, Cllr Fitzgerald added: "We have worked hard together to achieve this, canvassing our respective wards for over eight months prior to the election."
