Problem pubs names and shamed

PUBS which have attracted a high number of complaints from neighbours have been named and shamed in a report to go before councillors on Bramhall Area Committee today (Thursday, Spetember 14).

The report identifies those pubs which licensing officials had cause to deal with because of the volume of complaints from residents and businesses adjacent to their premises.

Among the worst offenders are the John Millington in Cheadle Hulme and the now closed Joga Bonito bar in Bramhall.

The Hesketh, in Cheadle Hulme; has had complaints relating to broken glass and bottles thrown in nearby gardens, as well as fighting outside the pubs Hulme Hall Road premises.

The John Millington, also in Cheadle Hulme, had numerous complaints about fighting, staff flouting last orders, and both light and noise pollution complaints. The Governor's House in Ravenoak Road has had complaints relating to late night noise nuisance, particularly over Easter weekends.

In Bramhall The Shady Oak in Redford Drive had a number of very serious complaints levelled against it over a two year period, including allegations of drug dealing in the car park outside, underage boozing, fights, and large groups of customers being allowed to congregate outside the pub.

Bramhall's Bromale is also mentioned for allowing underage drinking, with police responses on a number of occasions to deal with fights and rowdy behaviour.

In Hazel Grove the Grove Inn, the Bamboo Club, the Cock Hotel, and the Live Room all had a number of complaints against them.
