MEDALS continued to flow for Warrington Athletics Club in the second day of competition at the North of England indoor Championships at Sheffield’s EIS stadium.
The middle distance group claimed two gold medals, a silver and a bronze to increase the club tally to 10 awards over two days.
Sam Dykes took the under 17s men’s 800m championship title in 1min 59.12secs after controlling the race from gun to tape.
He was backed up by Jack Gleave’s third place in 2mins 1.09secs as he stepped up into the under 17s, having taken the 2009 under 15s boys’ 800m title.
In the under 20s defending 3,000m champion Harry Ellis and Matt Jackson - the previous day’s 1,500m champion - shared the lead until the final kilometre.
Ellis then injected an awesome burst of pace that saw him destroy his opposition.
His time of 8mins 23.85secs was a personal best and broke the championship record by 14 seconds.
Jackson took second place in a personal best 8mins 37.10secs.
