EMPLOYEES from energy company E.ON put their energy into transforming woodland at Quarry Bank Mill in Styal.
The 15 volunteers built new fencing, renewed a path, cleared away willow branches and created a wooden barrier to help protect the river bank from erosion.
Peter Hulse, one of the group, said: “There was a lot to do, but we all got stuck in and worked as hard as we could. We were all really tired at the end of the day but over the moon with what we’d achieved.
“It was great to work with the conservation team at Quarry Bank Mill and we’re really looking forward to supporting them again in the future.”
Tim Bowyer from Quarry Bank Mill, said: “There was a lot of manual work involved, including raising a path in an area prone to flooding. The team worked incredibly hard though and did a fantastic job, despite some pretty unsettled weather.
“The work they’ve done has helped improve access for visitors and enhanced the habitat for the local bird population, too.”
